In 2006 I began a project to document my adopted home city in images.

Along with the expected iconic scenes of our federal seat of government, I hope to capture a bit of everyday life in our neighborhoods, as well as some of the fleeting images that reflect the unique nature of our nation's capital as the heart of democracy.

My purpose is the same as for my other projects in photography...to use the medium not only as a creative outlet, but also as a means to learn more of the world around me.

Some of the photos will be familiar. However, I believe that many other images will show scenes that the millions of tourists and a good many of our city residents have not experienced.

Getting to know Washington DC requires repeated looks at a leisurely pace. It may take a lifetime to really know it. Any time at all spent here is sure to be rewarding. Exercising your constitutional rights here may be the most rewarding experience of all.
